Good evening Centennial families, Tomorrow will be the first time each family is dropping off completed work for their children. To make this process as smooth as possible, we will drop off assignments at the same time we pick-up new materials for this week. If you have been contacted about checking out a Chromebook, this week's materials will need to be picked up at Centennial, so you can sign a technology check-out form. To make this process as smooth as possible, please follow these steps for your pick-up location: If you are picking up meals and/or materials in Chama, El Rito, San Acacio, or Garcia, bring all completed assignments to your meal pick-up and put them in the box the cooks have. They will then give you your materials for this week. If you are picking up at Centennial, pull around the school after you get your meals. There will be a black barrel to drop off your assignments in. While you drop-off the completed assignments, we will place the new assignments in your trunk. If you are checking-out a Chromebook, we will have you pull forward to complete the paperwork and then give you the assigned Chromebook. You will not need to get out of your vehicle at anytime, which will help us all practice safe, social distancing. On a separate note, third quarter report cards will be part of the material set next Wednesday. Thank you for your continued patience as we transition to remote learning. We hope your children's learning experiences this week were engaging. We have established several systems to support you and your children during this time. These include regular phone calls from teachers, established office hours for students to contact their teachers with questions about their assignments, and integrating virtual platforms for live, video conferencing. Many teachers will be using different virtual tools and platforms to deepen your children's learning this week. Most have scheduled Zoom meetings and other strategies to make sure your children are receiving the instruction and supports they need to be successful. Be sure to reach out to teachers during their office hours if you or your child need assistance. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, you can also let us know during your teacher phone check-ins or reach out to the school directly.

One final note, all pick-ups will be grab and go. We must maintain six foot social distancing and gatherings under 10 people, so please, do not eat your food on campus or get out of your vehicles while picking-up meals or materials. Thank you!

Good Evening Centennial families, Tomorrow, we begin our food and assignment pickup. All student assignments for the week can be picked-up at the same time as meals. If you are picking up food at the Churches in Chama or El Rito and you said you wanted to pick-up your assignments at the same place as your meals, your assignment packets for your family will be there. Be sure to be in Chama by 8:30 and San Francisco by 9:00 for pick-up. If you specified in the survey to pick-up assignments at the Community Center in San Acacio or the Fire Station in Garcia, the assignments for your family will be there. Be sure to be in San Acacio by 8:30 and Garcia by 9:30 for pick-up. All others will pick-up their children's assignments at Centennial from 8:30 to 9:30am. When you come to pick-up at Centennial, you will drive into the school differently than you do for a normal school day. You will make the immediate left when you pull into the parking lot, so your driver-side will be curbside for the meal pick-up. You will then drive along the sidewalk to pick-up your child's assignments from the side of the school by the outdoor amphitheater. This is the side door that leads directly to the gym. We will have people and signs to guide you when you come to the school. We realize this is a different system, but we feel it will work safely and easily once we all get the hang of it. We look forward to beginning remote learning with your children, so come get their assignment bundles right away. Thank you.

Good evening Centennial families, Today, many of you received a call to survey you about your family's needs during this transition to remote learning. We will use this information to guide decisions about how to structure the learning ahead for your children. Over the next few days, you will begin receiving regular, check-in calls from your children's teachers. These calls are the first step in communicating regularly with each of you to make sure we are providing the supports you and your children need to be successful remote learners. Teachers met today to plan for the learning ahead and create packets for you to pick-up. These materials will be ready for pick-up on Wednesday. In the weeks ahead, you will drop-off completed assignments and pick-up the materials for the next week each Wednesday. We will have a schedule for you to pick-up or drop-off these materials without leaving your car, so we can continue to practice social distancing. You will pick-up materials based on the last name of your household. If your household has more than one last name, you will pick-up according to the last name that comes first alphabetically. This schedule will be available tomorrow, and we will call you with your individual pick-up time and location. Thank you for your continued patience as we develop our remote learning system.

Dear Centennial Families, Students, and Community, Due to rising concerns about slowing the spread of the Coronavirus across our state, Centennial School District R-1 will shift to remote learning for all PK-12 grade students and students in our Early Learning Center following spring break until April 16, 2020. This decision is based on on-going conversations with health professionals in the Valley, San Luis and Costilla County health officials, and San Luis Valley Superintendents. All in-person classes are cancelled until the situation is re-evaluated in April or there is additional guidance from the State or federal governments. We will be working as a staff to prepare instructional materials for your children and will have them available to all Centennial families on Wednesday, March 25. We will provide parents with a material pick-up schedule to ensure we are practicing appropriate social distancing. We will also provide families with information about student meal pick-up options in the upcoming days. We hope to not have students miss a single meal that would be served during a regular school schedule. Ultimately, the health and well-being of our community, students, and families is at the core of this decision, and we will do all we can to keep you informed. Please, use this time to enjoy the wonders of your child’s learning and growth. Explore ideas, books, music, and play- together. Thank you for your continued support in protecting our most vulnerable populations.

To date, there have not been any confirmed cases of coronavirus yet in the Valley. The Valley Superintendents are meeting this Monday to discuss what should be done after spring break to keep our students, staff, and communities safe. We will update our school community with information as soon as it becomes available.
