0945, March 26, 2020. 

Costilla County Public Health Agency was notified by the SLV Regional Epidemiologist, that there is a positive confirmation of a COVID-19 case in Costilla County. The case involves an individual in their 20’s. The individual is currently isolating at home, and cooperating with Public Health to further investigate the case.

 

Public Health will not release information regarding the identity of the individual due to national privacy laws. If you know someone who has received a positive test result, please be respectful of their privacy and do not share that information out.

 

Costilla County Pubic Health Agency advises all residents to follow the law and Governor Polis order to stay-at-home. This is a reminder that the virus is in our community, so remember to keep observing social distancing to minimize exposure. Per the order, individuals are able to leave for essential services, such as, medical care, getting medications, and groceries.  

 

If you think you have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with  COVID-19, you should self-quarantine for 14 days.  If you feel sick, self-isolate and stay home for at least 7-days from the onset of symptoms, you have no remaining symptoms and until you have not had a fever for 72- hours without using medication to reduce fevers.
