Yesterday, Governor Jared Polis declared a state of emergency. Though the term may sound alarming, this type of declaration helps ensure that resources are available and actions are taken throughout the state to combat COVID-19. Colorado is at least the 12^th state to enact emergency powers.

We are pleased that the governor has taken this step to limit and slow the spread of COVID-19. As he said in a press conference, “The actions that we take in the next few days and weeks will really determine the trajectory of coronavirus in Colorado.”

There remain no known cases of COVID-19 on our campus. However, we do have several confirmed cases of Influenza B, Strep, and the stomach flu. As a result, we began daily sanitizing efforts last week to prevent the spread of illness and will continue these efforts during next week’s spring break.

If your child is sick, has a cough/ difficulty breathing, has a fever, or is vomiting, do not send them to school. Visit the clinic or convenient care immediately to determine how long your child might be contagious. Together, we can slow the spread of these highly contagious illnesses.

We’ll continue to keep you updated, and to take proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of our community in accordance with guidance provided by our local nursing service, the CDPHE and the Centers for Disease Control.
